  1. Begin by removing the battery. Disconnect the positive terminal, then negative.

  2. Remove the airbox by loosening the coupler and unbolting the airbox. We are using an aftermarket airbox, so the OEM airbox and tube removal may differ slightly. Unplug the MAF and move the wire harness out of the way.

  3. Pull the coupler off and remove the airbox from the car. Pull the coupler off and remove the airbox from the car. Pull the coupler off and remove the airbox from the car.

  4. Unbolt the battery tie down. Remove the battery insulation. Remove the battery insulation.
    • Unbolt the battery tie down.

    • Remove the battery insulation.

  5. Remove the battery. Remove the plastic battery tray base.
    • Remove the battery.

    • Remove the plastic battery tray base.

  6. Unclip the wire harness from the ECU bracket. Unclip the wiring harness from the metal battery bracket. Unclip the wiring harness from the metal battery bracket.
    • Unclip the wire harness from the ECU bracket.

    • Unclip the wiring harness from the metal battery bracket.

  7. Remove the 10mm bolts on the battery tray. Remove the three larger bolts holding the battery tray to the shock tower. Once the battery tray is unbolted, remove it from the car.
    • Remove the 10mm bolts on the battery tray.

    • Remove the three larger bolts holding the battery tray to the shock tower.

    • Once the battery tray is unbolted, remove it from the car.

  8. Unplug the reverse sensor on the top of the transmission. Unplug the reverse sensor on the top of the transmission.
    • Unplug the reverse sensor on the top of the transmission.

  9. Remove the wire harness from the bracket on the front of the transmission. Remove the wire harness from the bracket on the front of the transmission.
    • Remove the wire harness from the bracket on the front of the transmission.

  10. Locate the detent spring and remove it. Locate the detent spring and remove it. Locate the detent spring and remove it.
    • Locate the detent spring and remove it.

  11. Install the new HR detent spring and re-install into the transmission. Install the new HR detent spring and re-install into the transmission.
    • Install the new HR detent spring and re-install into the transmission.

  12. Locate the side detent spring and remove it. Locate the side detent spring and remove it.
    • Locate the side detent spring and remove it.

  13. Swap the OEM spring for the larger HR spring. Swap the OEM spring for the larger HR spring. Swap the OEM spring for the larger HR spring.
    • Swap the OEM spring for the larger HR spring.

  14. Reinstall the detents in the transmission and make sure you can row through all of the gears before moving forward.
    • Reinstall the detents in the transmission and make sure you can row through all of the gears before moving forward.

    • Once everything feels good, reinstall all of the parts that were removed.

    • Since the battery was disconnected, the car will throw a ton of warnings when it is turned on. Just drive the car around for a little while, stop, turn the ignition off, then turn the car on again and it should all be cleared. If the warnings are still present, repeat those steps.
