Remove the fuel pump assembly from the vehicle. Be sure to work in a clean, well-ventilated area away from flames. There will be gasoline inside the pump.
-
-
-
Unplug the fuel level sending unit. It is the connector with the yellow wire.
-
-
-
Unclip and disconnect the fuel pump hose. Remove it entirely so it does not interfere with the fuel level float.
-
-
-
Unclip the lower fuel pump cover. There are a few clips that surround the top section. Unclip one and work your way around the case.
-
Once all are unclipped, slide the cover off.
-
-
-
Unclip the lower fuel pump motor cover. Like the case, there are a few clips that surround the lower section.
-
Unclip them and slide the entire fuel pump motor out of the case.
-
-
-
Remove the inner o-ring from the pump housing.
-
This is easy to do with a fine pick or flat tipped screwdriver.
-
-
-
Remove the factory pump spacer.
-
Only the retainer, isolator and spacer. All other items can be discarded.
-
-
-
Install the new Hybrid Racing pump filter onto the Hybrid Racing pump motor.
-
Use the supplied filter and retaining clip.
-
-
-
Reinstall the pump spacer onto the Hybrid Racing fuel pump.
-
This is easiest done using a small socket which helps you push it all the way down.
-
Install the supplied o-ring on top of the pump spacer.
-
-
-
Slide the pump assembly into the housing. You may need to add a drop of lube to the o-ring so it slides into place easily. Push the pump into the housing until it stops.
-
-
-
Push the lower pump cover onto the housing. This should snap back in place just like it was when you removed it. Make sure all tabs are clipped in otherwise the fuel pressure can push the pump out when it is turned on.
-
If this happens, you will experience a loss of fuel pressure.
-
-
-
Slide the pump assembly into the housing. Be sure to secure all clips around the top of the case.
-
-
-
Reinstall the pump hose.
-
Make sure it routes behind the level sending unit. Clip the hose back into its original position.
-
-
-
Now you are ready to install the pump back into the chassis. Be careful not to damage the fuel level sending unit during this process.
-
Almost done!
